Nutrition Services
The Heart of Texas Healthcare System has its very own registered dietitian (RD) who provides clinical nutrition services to hospital patients and members of the community.
Our RD works closely with physicians, nurses and other professional staff to meet each patient’s specific nutritional needs. All newly-admitted hospital patients are screened for nutritional risk and offered nutrition education as indicated.
Our RD provides nutritional assistance for medical conditions including:
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Pulmonary Disorders
- Gastrointestinal Disorders
- Wounds and Pressure Ulcers
- Food Allergies/Intolerances
- Kidney Disease
- Weight Loss and Management
We also offer outpatient nutritional counseling services which focuses on helping individuals learn how to make healthy food choices and lasting lifestyle changes. Weight management, sports nutrition and eating disorder counseling is also available. A physician referral is required for individual outpatient nutrition counseling.
